RSS Connect

RSS is a cool feature of most blogs and news websites that uses XML to allow for automatic gathering of the latest headlines from the site. To get Jawfish headlines use this URL:
http://www.jawfish.net/wp/wp-rss2.php
But you will need a news aggregator, see below. Usually you just paste this url into the field when asked for a news source. If the planets are lined up, you should get a table of headlines and excerpts by date.
Where do I get a news aggregator?
Mail Client
I use Thunderbird for mail and to gather my RSS subscriptions.
Firefox browser users:
The latest Firefox has a built-in rss feed reader. Follow the link for details, but basically you just go to Jawfish, look for the little orange icon at lower right in the Firefox window, click it and save a bookmark to a convenient place. Choose RSS2 from the list. The Jawfish RSS bookmark will appear as a folder with your other bookmarks, listing the latest topics inside. Get Firefox for most platforms here.
All OSes:
RSSJOBS all OSes site. Some software may not be up-to-date.
Linux users:
Gnome users - Liferea is popular. KDE users - Kontact contains a news aggregator. Here is an unedited long list of applications.
Purely WWW:
News Is Free is a giant news aggregator and also has non-free services. Don’t know much about it, but seems to work. Also Rocket Info. And 2RSS.
Windows users: There is supposed to be a free plug-in for IE. otherwise Google “news aggregator windows” or a similar phrase. I saw more than one plug-in for Outlook, too.
Mac OSX+ users: Go here and search on RSS for a long list of applications.
Feed validator. Checks your outgoing feed. Use for debugging.
