Well don't we come around again to the differences between parties? Sure the government is ( intentionally) paralyzed, but I'll argue the populace is too: passively accepting Homeland Security, government snooping, and the Iraq war, unwilling to pay for government services but ignoring the much-higher cost being paid to 'privatized' contractors and on and on.

The one thing I would like to disagree with is the division into democrat blue and republican red. I am not so sure I believe in blue and red divisions as useful. It is not the country that is paralyzed by division: it's the government. If the congress, the executive in its relations with congress, and yes, even the judiciary were not mired in the legacy of the Newt Gingerich "hate, don't cooperate" system, we'd all be living with each other just fine, because differences of opinion would be shades in the political palette, not mutually exclusive hate speech.
